Bolo Escuro - Dark Cake (Maria Teresa Faria de Freitas) | |
1 lb flour 1 lb sugar 1/2 lb of butter ½ lb of currants 1 lb of citron peel 1 lb of almonds 4 eggs 1 grated lemon 2 teaspoons of baking soda 2 teaspoons of honey 4 teaspoons of nutmeg 1 cup of milk 1 glass of Madeira wine or rum | |
Preparation: Put all ingredients in a large bowl (except the baking soda), mix and beat with a spoon always in the same direction. Once well mixed, add the baking soda and mix again. Put in a baking tray, basted with butter and lard. |
