Welcome to the de Freitas family recipe book!
We welcome contributions from all branches of our de Freitas family worldwide, the descendants of Simoa Silvestre de Freitas and Marie Teresa de Faria, their spouses and related families - the Gomes family are well-represented in this first go-round. Nice, since Celso was Best Man at the marriage of Druce Gomes and Delma de Souza, and Paul married Fay Anne.
Our families are far flung – Guyana - the roots, Australia, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, Colombia, France, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, the UK, and the USA. The recipes in this book are from the personal notes of a number of contributors – all of whom are acknowledged. But in some instances, they “borrowed” the recipe from others – and we have also acknowledged the source of each recipe where known. A very special thank you to Edmund de Freitas and his family who translated Maria Teresa’s recipes from Portuguese to English.
