Forum Registration Help

This page contains help on how to register for the Forum. If you are already registered for the forum, you can simply enter the forum. You must be a de Freitas or connected family member to be accepted for this forum. In other words, you must be related to someone in our family tree or be in the family tree. The following images show the screens which take you through the process of registering for the forum. Since the forum is private, registration is required - this ensures that only associated families have access to the pages of the forum.

To register, go to the forum and then click on the Register link.

After clicking on the Register link, a standard Disclaimer form appears which you must accept.

After clicking on the Accept button, you are taken to a form into which you can enter your personal profile information. You do not have to provide information in any field not marked with an asterisk (*). However, you must complete all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Here is an explanation of some of the terms on the form, and the form is displayed below the explanations - scroll down to view it:

• Username
  • Use a single word or mix of characters and numbers as your username, e.g. pablo2003
• Password
  • Use a single word or mix of characters and numbers as your password, e.g. abc123
• Homepage
  • If you have your own web page, you can enter its address here.
• ICQ number
  • ICQ is an instant messaging program. If you are a member of ICQ and wish to receive instant messages via ICQ, you can enter your ICQ number here.
• AIM Address
  • AIM means AOL Instant Messenger - If you are a member of AOL and wish to receive instant messages via AIM, you can enter your AIM Address here.
• MSN Messenger
  • If you are a member of Microsoft MSN and wish to receive instant messages via MSN Messenger, you can enter your MSN Address here.
• Yahoo Messenger
  • If you are a member of Yahoo and wish to receive instant messages via Yahoo Messenger, you can enter your Yahoo Messenger Address here.
• Avatar
  • An avatar is a small image which represents you. You may select an avatar from those provided by highlighting an entry in the avatar list - for example, Alien Helmet - the image will immediately appear in the area to the right of the selection box so you can check it out. If you don't like any of the avatars supplied and want to use your own image, remember that its size can be no larger than 15Kb. To upload it, click on the Upload Avatar link - a small pop-up box will appear to allow you to choose the image from your computer.
• Signature
  • A signature is a set of words or sentences which appear underneath each posting which you make to the forum. It might consist of your nickname followed by your favourite motto - for example.
• Time Offset
  • Enter the number of hours, plus or minus, which your time location varies from GMT. For example, EST (Eastern Standard Time is GMT -5.

Click on the Register button when you have completed as much of the form as you wish. You will then receive a message which tells you that an e-mail has been sent to you at the address which you provided. This e-mail contains a link which, when you click on it, completes the registration process and provides you with login access to the forum.

You will not be allowed to Post anything in the forum until the forum Administrator has granted that right.
